New Bismarck and Fargo Program Offers a Debt-Free Career in Welding
Leader in Skills-Based Education Funding Launches
“Training-to-Employment” Program in North Dakota
FRISCO, TX, March 6, 2019– Meritize, a leading provider of funding solutions for skills-based education and workforce development, has launched its SkillsBuilding™ training program in Fargo and Bismarck, offering area residents an opportunity to earn a debt-free career in welding. The company has partnered with locally based Lynnes Welding Training to offer five-week welding classes, with start dates from March through September. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Lynnes Welding Training facilities in Fargo and Bismarck.
The innovative Meritize program recruits qualified candidates who are selected to be trained in critical, in-demand skills and then matches them with companies for employment following their training. Candidates are paid during their training and do not pay anything toward their education if they complete the program and perform satisfactorily in their employment, allowing them to earn a debt-free career. The training and direct path to employment provides participants with marketable skills and credentials that set the foundation for a long-term career.
For employers who have jobs to fill, the program reduces their recruitment and upfront training investment, improves retention and allows them to create a cost-efficient talent pipeline.
“We are committed to helping people develop lifelong, job-furthering skills and gain hands-on training that sets them up for success now and in the future—without the burden of education debt,” said Meritize CEO Chris Keaveney. “We face a very real challenge in the U.S. right now, as gaps persist between employers’ needs and the pool of qualified workers able to meet them. Our SkillsBuilding program seeks to close the skills gap by connecting both employers with trained and ready-to-work employees and prospective employees with quality training and real-world job opportunities.”
Meritize offers a range of SkillsBuilding services for students, educators and employers in select markets across the country that help employers create qualified talent pipelines and empower individuals to build skills-based careers in the industrial, technology and healthcare sectors. The company also offers proprietary merit-based student loans that go beyond FICO scores and use a person’s academic, military and work achievements to enhance credit evaluation and improve loan options. This approach expands funding opportunities for those who were previously underserved by traditional credit evaluation.
